Where is Ninamu Resort?

Ninamu Resort is located on a private motu (islet) in the southwest corner of Tikehau Atoll, in French Polynesia. It’s a one hour flight to the north east of the main French Polynesian island of Tahiti.

How do I get to French Polynesia?

Air Tahiti Nui flies to to Papeete originating from Paris, Los Angeles, Auckland, and Tokyo. Air France flies to Papeete from Paris with a stopover in Los Angeles. Low-cost carrier French Bee serves Papeete from Paris with a stopover in San Francisco. United Airlines offers non-stop service from San Francisco to Papeete.

How do I get to Ninamu Resort?

Tikehau is a short, one hour flight from Papeete. Inter-island domestic air travel is provided by Air Tahiti. They operate daily flights to Tikehau.

Is transfer to and from Tikehau airport included in the price of reservation?

Yes, Ninamu Resort staff will meet you at Tikehau Airport.  A quick car ride through the village takes you to the marina, and 10 minute boat ride across the lagoon gets you to the private island.  

Are private charter flights available?

Yes. If the Air Tahiti schedule to and from Papeete does not meet your needs, or if you are traveling with a large group, private charter flights to and from Tikehau can be arranged. Please contact us for further details.

Accommodations

What are your rates for the different bungalows?

You can check rates and availability for all our bungalows on our reservation page.

Are the prices quoted per room or per person?

Ninamu is an all-inclusive resort, therefore prices are charged per guest, not room.

Do children stay for free?

Infants less than two years old stay for free. Between 2 years and 12 years our child rates apply. Children 12 years or older pay full price.

What are the check-in/out times?

Check-in is typically from 2pm onwards. Check-out is 12pm. Guest arriving early or leave late are welcome to use all facilities on the day of arrival and departure.

Are the bungalows air-conditioned?

Only Teahupoo and the Vini Vini garden bungalows. All others bungalows are traditional builds with natural ventilation. Additional fans are provided in all rooms.

Do the bathrooms have bathtubs or showers?

All our rooms have showers only. Teahupoo has an additional private jacuzzi.

Are there TVs in the bungalows?

Only Teahupoo. However, satellite TV is available in the common lounge.

Can I book the whole Island?

Yes, we do offer complete island buyout. We can accommodate up to 26 people at full capacity. Please contact info (at) motuninamu.com for rates and availability.

Dining

What is included in the daily rate?

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinking water.

What is not included?

Your bar tab (both soft drinks and alcoholic drinks)

What times are the meals served?

Breakfast is at 7:30am, lunch at 12:30pm and dinner at 7:30pm

Can I order room service?

Ninamu does not offer room service.

Can you accommodate my specific dietary requirements?

Yes, we are able to accommodate many dietary concerns. Please mention your dietary needs in the booking notes of your reservation or reach out to us on info(at)motuninamu.com, we are happy to help.

What type of food will we eat?

Breakfasts typically consist of homemade bread, honey, jams, cereals, homemade yoghurt, bacon, sausages and eggs cooked to order. Lunch and dinner consist primarily of fish with a variety of side dishes and fresh vegetables. The fish is caught and prepared fresh daily (mahi mahi, yellow fin, wahoo, bonito, etc).

Activities

Do I have to sign a waiver of liability?

Yes. we require all guests age 18 and over, and parents or guardians of guests under 18 to sign a waiver of liability. Please download the waiver by clicking here.

What sport equipment is available on the island?

We offer multiple double and single kayaks, SUP’s and snorkeling gear for everyone to enjoy on their own in the surrounding waters.

How many excursions are included in the rate?

Excursions are offered daily to all guests and vary depending on weather. All guests can join any excursion without making special arrangements. Excursions typically leave at 9am and return for lunch.

What activities are not included in the rate?

Scuba diving and deep sea fishing. Both can be arranged on the island.

How do I arrange for SCUBA diving?

Miscellaneous

Is there internet at Ninamu resort?

Yes, but currently still running on island speed. Wireless internet is available for free. It’s typically sufficient for email and messenger communication.

What type of electrical outlets are at Ninamu Resort?

220v outlets. The same type of outlets as Continental Europe.

Which languages are spoken at the reception?

We speak french and english.

What should I bring to Ninamu Resort?

Most importantly sunscreen,  a good hat and sturdy reef shoes. You may want to bring along some snacks / power bars for inbetween meals.

What payment methods do you accept at the resort?

We accept credit cards (Master, Visa and Amex) and cash (XPF, US$)

Are medical services available on Tikehau?

Very basic medical services are available on Tikehau. The city of Papeete, on the Island of Tahiti has full medical facilities. For this reason we recommend purchasing travelers insurance with medical and evacuation coverage.
